Leah Woods is a singer songwriter with a smokey tone and soulful voice reminiscent of Joss Stone and Birdy, but with a sound and writing style unique for her generation of recording artists. Originally from Saratoga Springs in Upstate NY, Leah began playing Piano at the age of 12, picking up the ukulele and writing her own original music soon after. She then started performing at local bars and music venues in upstate New York. Leah is Currently studying Music Composition and arts management at SUNY Purchase’s Music Conservatory.
Leah has played all over the Capital region and the East Coast. She has personally organized a non-profit tour for her soul, R&B, pop group Mama and the Stops they collaborated with organizations from Saratoga Springs to Virginia beach raising over $4,500 for the non-profit organizations they worked with which included women’s shelters, homeless shelters and arts organizations.
Leah will be releasing an EP in 2017. It will be recorded In the SUNY Purchase recording studios featuring musicians from her live band as well as special guest musicians that also attend Purchase Conservatory of Music.
Leah has always felt that her life-long passion is to make a difference in the world. After organizing and managing the Mama and the Stops tour she aspires to go as far in the music and non-profit industry as possible while keeping a grounded insight using music; a lifelong passion to make a difference in the world.
